Welcome to Formkraft

Formkraft is a curated journal about contemporary crafts and design. An academic editorial board selects themes and cases. Each month, Formkraft publishes 3-4 articles including research papers, interviews, portraits, and reviews. Our goal is to enhance critical discussion about crafts and design through socially relevant and professional topics. A wide range of authors contributes to a nuanced narrative.
Formkraft illuminates, investigates, and contextualizes contemporary crafts and design.

Archive and Journal Shelf

With significant assistance from several funds, Danish Crafts & Designers has digitized journals from the period 1948 – 2009, including Biennial catalogs from 1995 – present. It has long been a desire to digitize the extensive analog material to democratize all the knowledge the journals contain and give the public the opportunity to delve into history – online.
The history is relayed, contextualized, and discussed in the new releases on Formkraft with references to the vast knowledge the archive holds.
Formkraft continuously publishes articles and gathers them under themes on the Journal Shelf. The newest articles are on the front page.

In the Archive, you can search for different keywords, authors, craftspeople/designers, etc.

Who is behind Formkraft?

An editorial advisory board comprising representatives from the field’s institutions, freelancers, as well as practicing craftspeople and designers, compiles the content for the year.
Formkraft is published by  Danish Crafts & Design Association
