Knowledge about Danish crafts and design
Formkraft is a curated journal about contemporary craft and design. An editorial board decides topics and cases. Every month we publish 2-3 articles including research articles, interviews, portraits and reviews. Our aim is to strengthen the critical discussion about crafts and design through socially relevant and professional topics.
Formkraft illuminates, examines and puts into perspective contemporary craft and design with professional articles, interviews, portraits and reviews. A wide range of writers contribute to a nuanced narrative.
Formkraft also contains a large archive of digitized journals.
Thanks to financial support from private and public foundations, Danish Crafts & Design Association has digitized journals from 1948 – 2009 including Biennale catalogs from 1995 – now.
It has long been a wish to digitize the journals in order to democratize all the knowledge they contain and give the largest possible audience the opportunity to dive into history – online.
We are not just showing history. We want to use the huge knowledge of the past to understand our present.
The archive, coexists with a contemporary online magazine at Formkraft.
