Symposium: Crafted Realities

How did Tideland Studio bring ‘The Stolen Collection’ to life? The project consists of nine ceramic works. Each work is a replica of a stolen cultural heritage item from the Middle East that has recently been sold through the eBay marketplace. Digital archaeology, AI and ceramic 3D printing are combined to capture and recreate these objects before they disappear into private art collections.
Stephanie Strøyer is art consultant for Tideland Studio on the ‘Stolen Collection’ project. With her experience in both the auction industry and the museum world, she is well versed in the complex issues facing cultural heritage when it comes to the buying, selling and restitution of artworks and artifacts.
