The quality of this year’s Biennale is certainly high, and many of the contributions show an extremely high degree of elaboration or detailing, perhaps reflecting that there had been time to allow the materials and the ideas to be fully expressed.

The rugs and wall hangings she designed for these settings are at once calm and insistent surface features that claim their place in the room without being obstructive. Of course, one constantly catches oneself wanting to reach out and touch the weavings with all their intricate details!
